The latest generation resins allow us to improve the color, alignment, fractures or lengthen your teeth without involving major modifications.
It is one of the simplest and most cost-effective treatments in cosmetic dental procedures, the resin process can be performed in a single appointment and most of the time does not require local anesthesia.
Resins are made of synthetic material that hardens when exposed to a special light, they allow in particular simple restorations in teeth affected by small cavities or imperfections, and they offer an appearance of the same color as the natural tooth and can last approximately 4-5 years with correct oral hygiene habits.
At 14-85 Dental Spa we have facilities and Spa-like therapies totally free of charge to create a tranquil environment before and during dental treatments.
What is a dental inlay and how much does it cost?
Dental inlay is a dental treatment used to partially reconstruct posterior dental pieces that present superficial deterioration of moderate extension. Therefore, it is part of the so-called conservative dentistry, since it avoids the extraction of the damaged tooth.
Halfway between the filling and the crown, dental inlays seek to rehabilitate the damaged tooth both esthetically and functionally. Depending on their complexity, we can speak of inlays, onlays or overlays.
The price of the dental inlay will be determined by three factors: its size, the technique used (direct, indirect or semi-direct) and the filling material (metal, porcelain, resin, etc.).
The time that a dental inlay lasts is conditioned by various aspects, and can last between 5 and 25 years. In essence, its exact durability will be determined by two variables:
The material used: for example, porcelain dental inlays can last 10 years longer than resin inlays and these, in turn, are more resistant than metal inlays. The patient’s habits: proper dental hygiene extends the life of dental inlays because it reduces the risk of caries. On the other hand, bruxism or chewing excessively hard food reduces their duration.
The requirements that determine the suitability to undergo a dental inlay treatment are the following:
The dental piece presents deterioration of moderate extent in its structure due either to a carious lesion or to wear. Cases of massive structural damage are therefore excluded.
The tooth has a normal anatomical shape and its crown is large enough to accommodate the restoration. This treatment is contraindicated in the case of teeth that have been previously restored. The affected tooth does not act as a support for fixed or removable prostheses.
Dental inlays are not recommended for patients with poor oral hygiene and/or prone to caries.
Dental resin or composite is a synthetic dental filling material used to reconstruct the structure of a tooth damaged by caries, cracks or fissures.
This filling material is one of the preferred materials for dental inlays and onlays. Its versatility and strength have earned it the advantage over silver amalgams.
Thanks to dental resin, the tooth recovers not only its functionality but also its appearance. This is due to the fact that this material has a shade identical to that of the teeth, so that, once adhered to the surface of the teeth, it is visually undetectable.
Dental resins are composed of an organic polymeric matrix and an inorganic filler of mineral origin (zirconia, quartz, aluminum silicate, etc.). The material used for the latter component will be decisive in determining the exact price of the composite.
The type of dental resin will also determine the price. Depending on the location and extent of the damage to be repaired, we can use microfilled, macrofilled, nanofilled or hybrid resins.
In principle, dental resins can be changed as many times as necessary. However, the tooth must still be in a suitable condition to be filled with this material. Consequently, if the damage is too deep, it would be necessary to place a crown instead of a new inlay.
The average duration of dental resins is between 5 and 7 years, being necessary to replace them when they break, wear out or change color. Certain habits on the part of the patient can extend the useful life of this material (maintaining good oral hygiene, not smoking, not eating hard or sticky foods, etc.). It is also recommended to visit the dentist periodically to check the condition of the dental inlays and onlays. At 14-85 Dental Spa we offer you advanced solutions with the best dental technology.
